Modern Methods of Communication: Snippets of Interesting Things
When my father was young, their telephone was a community line that everyone shared. when you used it to call someone, there was the very real possibility that someone else was listening in on the conversation. Two people could not use the phone at the same time. Ancient times, right? Fast forward to the the 1990's and the use of the World Wide Web. It used the telephone line to communicate with other computers. An amazing advancement but you could not be on the web and on the phone at the same time. Again, ancient times.

Today, we have the freedom to communicate using multiple internet-based technologies without ever getting in the way of our normal telephone usage.
- Social Networking Websites
- Wikis (collaborative tools)
- Blogs a Vlogs (video version of a blog)
- Podcasts
- Webcasts and YouTube Cannels
- Streaming Services
All of these services make us more connected than ever before. Individuals use it personally to stay in touch with family and friends or pursue interests. Companies have really jumped onboard using these communications tools so as to reach as many new customers as possible. Individuals straddle both worlds by using their communications platforms to influence buying trends. These "influencers," as they are called are powerful manipulators of consumer purchases.
Who knew, back in the 1990's when I first got to use the internet (which was much slower than today but STILL AMAZING), that communications would change so drastically?
